The Amblers plan for December
3rd December – Elizabeth will take the lead on a route to be decided.
10th December – Barbara and John will lead a walk from Calstock to Cotehele, with the option of viewing the garland. Please note that last year, non National Trust members were charged the full admission rate for viewing the garland, so this may well apply this year.
17th December – The annual mince pie day at Ann’s. Barbara and John will lead a walk from Pixon Lane up across Whitchurch Down, through Middlemoor and the path field to the village church, through the churchyard, up the road to the path beside the school. There will be a comfort /coffee stop at Morrisson’s where the route back will be agreed This could involve a stroll around the canal bordering the school playing field, a quick dash past the cemetery, or a follow the path by the community college to Meadowlands, avoiding the canal. Don’t forget to bring a sandwich.
Longer Walkers Plan for December
3rd December – David and Liz plan to do a circular walk taking in Burrator, Yennadon Down and Walkhampton, a distance of about 6 miles. They plan to start from Burrator Quarry Car park (SX549677) and cross Yennadon Down before passing through Walkhampton onto the open moor and then follow the disused rail line back to the start.
10th December – Mary and Steve will lead, route depending on the weather. They helpfully add that Steve’s photos of his last long trek in Ladakh are ready, so they can do a show any Monday when the weather is vile, including 17th.
17th December – Kay will lead a shorter walk from Magpie Bridge, aiming to be at Ann’s before all the mince pies have disappeared!
24th December and 31st December there will be no walks.
Then its Christmas and volunteers will be needed for a sparkling January. Come ready to sign up at Ann’s Mince pie event and also to fix a date for our pub lunch.
