Five of the U3A’s in the Two Moors Group (Launceston, Moor’s Edge, Okehampton, Tavy and West Dartmoor) took part in an Inter-U3A Bridge Competition on Saturday 29th June in the hall of the United Reform Church in Tavistock.
Tavy District organised the event and Chris Dicker, the Director for the afternoon, explained the rules and the table rotations required from players in East and West positions, so that everyone had a chance to play with as many bridge pairs as possible.
At half time, players welcomed a cup of tea or coffee and several biscuits, as the competition was fierce, but eventually we had a winning team from Launceston who narrowly took first prize. I am happy to say that one of the West Dartmoor teams was joint second and…………………let’s not forget the other West Dartmoor team who took the booby prize as well!
It was great fun, we all enjoyed ourselves and made some new bridge friends in the process. Launceston have offered to host the event next year with the incentive of scones………………………who can resist?
