In my wildest dreams, I could never have imagined participating in a virtual wine tasting. You may ask – what is a virtual wine tasting – as I did and was very interested to see how it would work.
Courtesy of The Arts Society who hosted the event, a few of us, suitably socially distanced, participated in the zoom with the winemaker – Peter Bright, one of the original ‘flying winemakers’ from Australia who has been making wine in Portugal for over 3o years.
It was very light hearted and enjoyable evening and although it would have been possible to join the Virtual Wine Tasting without actually tasting the wine, we had decided that was taking it a bit too far and made sure we had the three wines open and ready to taste.
About 45 households joined the virtual event on zoom from all over the UK and enjoyed the shared experience of tasting the three wines from Peter’s Terra d’Alter Wine Estate in Alentejo, Portugal. We tasted the wine, heard about the Estate it comes from and were able to feedback our tasting notes and ask questions via the chat facility on zoom.
A little ingenuity and we can still have an enjoyable and fun evening.
