This question, put to the audience at the January talk from Simon from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, caused some ribaldry but he explained that the recommended life span was 2 years and that there was an expiry date on the neck.
Simon gave a clear, informative and humourous talk on how to prevent risk from fire within the home giving a number of helpful tips on what we could do ourselves – for instance that plug cube adaptors were a fire risk and using multi sockets was safer.
He reminded us of the need to check alarms regularly and to ensure safe nighttime routines to ensure rapid escape in case of a fire.
