West Dartmoor Interest Groups are varied and range from Classical Greek through Exploring Science, Embroidery, Fruit & Vegetable Gardening, Bridge, Canasta, History, Walking and Singing for Fun…………to name a few, there are many others.
If your interest is not covered there is always the opportunity to start a group or make suggestions for a new group and it’s usually possible to meet in members’ homes. We have recently added two new groups – 10 Pin Bowling and Petanque. Each group has a leader and this may be someone acting as a teacher or someone who coordinates the group’s activities – as happens with the Walkers, most of whom takes turns leading a walk.
Many of our groups have been active for years with new members adding to the mix, helping to keep the groups stimulated. Some members enjoy running a short season of talks or other activities to cover a specific topic. Every Interest Group works under the u3a umbrella but are self-determining and the possibilities for stimulation, enjoyment and satisfaction are endless.
Due to the current situation, we are unable to meet as before, and are increasingly using zoom to connect with members.
