There are two walking groups – The Amblers and The Explorers.
Please contact the group organiser, for the relevant group, to be added to the email list for weekly information on the walks.
The Amblers, who always meet at Pixon Lane every Monday, 9.15-9.30, do about 3/5 miles at a gentle pace and have cover the local byways and old railway lines, the more accessible tors and enjoy further trips afield during the better weather where cars are shared (contributions made) or bus passes used.
This is an open group and all you need to do initially to participate, is to come prepared with suitable footwear, protective clothing/waterproofs, lunch and a drink.
Weather in Devon all year round is variable, so please check the weather and be prepared. We will always identify the length of the walk and any specific hazards in advance.
Dog walkers are reminded to be aware of potential issues if the proposed walk risks encountering cattle or sheep and to keep dogs on a lead in relevant areas.
Group Organiser: Amblers take it in turns to lead walks. Sign up to the Amblers WhatsApp Group.
The Explorers, also walk weekly on a Monday, and are led by the walkers in the group in turn. They tackle the longer walks of up to 7 miles, at a brisker pace over more challenging terrain, and usually meet at the starting car park for the walk and do share transport. As they are a small group, walks are decided usually just one week in advance.
Group Organiser: John Carr
We hold joint annual events, such as a pub lunch, seaside walk and a cream tea walk.
